Lava stone is easily the oldest and most frequently found stone in the world.   The Italians were the first to wear lava beads in jewelry beginning in the 19th century when the volcano Vesuvius erupted.    Lava stone is known to provide emotional grounding when worn close to the skin.   As such, it was common for soldiers to wear necklaces and bracelets made of lava stone to keep them calm during battle.
